Can I add another RAM kit which is basically identical to the one the PC already has, except for the color?

Currently I have this 2x4GB kit from Corsair:

- CML8GX3M2A1600C9R - Corsair

Since being unable to find this exact model, I bought this one (which I found for a very low price, and also wanted to fill up all four of the motherboard's RAM slots).

- CML8GX3M2A1600C9 - Corsair

Which is nearly identical, has the same voltages, same frequency, same timing, but the heatsinks are black instead of red.

The computer currently has a XMP profile enabled, so the sticks are running at their advertised speed of 1.6GHz instead of 1.3GHz.

So can I just put this extra kit in and then turn the PC on? Meaning, will it just work?
This is a dumb question, but I'm still learning a few things about building custom PCs... :)

What motherboard are you using? There is a chance (though small) the max RAM your motherboard supports is 8 gb and you will basically be wasting your money buying another kit. Again, depends on the motherboard. Just to be safe give us all your PC specs.

The mobo is a GA-970A-UD3P Rev2.1 from Gigabyte, it can take up to 32GB of RAM (though I heard it doesn't play nice with 1866MHz kits in dual channel mode, only 1600MHz.)

Sounds good. Looks like you are set for an upgrade and shouldn't have any issues.
Good Luck!

Ok guys the new RAM kit has arrived, it works like a charm. The mobo automatically overclocked the new modules to 1.6GHz. No issues until know. Thanks everyone!
