Question Can I borrow a smartphone to set up my Oculus Quest?

I was given an Oculus Quest but I don't have a smartphone to set it up. Before I break any seals I need to make sure I will be able to use this headset.

Just a guess here, but I'm guessing the smartphone app is how you get any software/firmware updates. Pretty sure you can borrow one to set it up, but it's likely to store your account information and you'll eventually need one to download/install games/updates.

Just a guess, though. The site only states that it's required for set up.

With all the advertising and harvesting I sorta thought that may have been the case. I was being impatient. Now that I have it a phone is also helpful for playing games from other platforms too.
