Question Can I build a decent gaming rig for $1000

It has been 6 years since I built my last rig and I went balls out on that one and now I need a budget rig to have upstairs but can still play the same games. Any ideas would be great as everything has changed so much in 6 years.

I will want to be able to at least use a 27" monitor with it

Nice build @Dark Lord of Tech . You managed to fit the RTX2070 in there. I went for more balance with the Ryzen 2600x, and the capable RTX2060. Admittedly the RTX2070 GPU with Ryzen 2600 over the higher clocked CPU 2600x with the RTX2060 will give a few more FPS. Good spot!
