Can I build a PC that would handle video processing, capture & playback similar to the vantage HD or DVDO iScan VP50PRO video processor?
My Problem: I want to enhance the visual resolution of an LED display that is 384 x 192pixel but 4.6m x 2.3m in size.
The main use would be relaying sd/hd sdi broadcasting via BNC connections.
Would a very high spec PC able to handle the latest games in hd achieve what I need? The resolution is obviously low and is more often a down conversion as opposed to the resolutions of a HDTV's?
How would you solve the problem for around £2000/$3500?

Cheers, KG

i think almost any graphics card could cope with that resolution, and to my knowledge you have no way of making it look any better.

video capture would need a separate card. Check out Haupage's offerings (not sure of spelling)

what video processing do you need?

Hi, Thanks, well basically ive been reading about virtual pixel technology with regards to large LED screens not LED TV. If you can shed any light i would be grateful.

A screen with a physical resolution of 12mm (i have) with use of hardware/software can achieve a visual resolution of 6mm. Some of the really large outdoor screen companies claim to have visual resolutions half of their physical resolution. I want to say that my screen is 6mm visual which would make my screen a clearer resloution than the rest in the UK of similar size.

I'd prefer to build a PC that would do the job of the vantage HD, if it can be done.

The screen will be used at events so i need to be able to process camera imputs & tv signals. The screen will also be used for video and maybe used as a giant console screen at parties/ events etc.

Ive looked at the blackmagic decklink extreme Mk3 video capture & editing card £650 and hoped that getting a high spec MB, CPU, GPU & ram etc would achieve the same results as a seperate video processor unit bearing in mind that the screen resolution is 384 x 192. What do you think? Cheers, KG
