Currently I have a Ryzen 7 1700x and a. GA-A320M-S2H mobo. The Ryzen recommends 2667 MT/s RAM. The board that I have is not overclockable. Can I buy 3200 MT/s RAM to put on my mobo and it will work with no problems?

Solution
Ryzen 2000 series featured an improved memory controller over the earlier models such as 1700X. This allowed the next higher frequency RAM speed without OC.

The maximum RAM speed you will get with GA-A320M-S2H is 2666MHz.

I would not recommend using out of spec 3200MHz RAM. You will need to be adept at setting DRAM timings, DRAM voltage, and memory clock to compensate for any differences.

I would not recommend using an A320 Chipset motherboard with a 1700X CPU. A B350 Chipset motherboard only costs $5-$20 more and would be more suitable for the 1700X CPU.

Okay so you recommend for me to get 3200 RAM on a B Series board? Seeing as money is not a problem for me at the moment I am willing to do that, just a little time consuming

EDIT: Should I buy a cheaper Z series mobo and 2x8 3200 DDR4? I would like to stay around the $200 USD range.

Thanks so much. What you said is exactly what my twitch moderator said. My B350 Tomahawk is on it's way! Thanks for the help. I also got 16gb of 3200 RAM which should work excellent with the mobo

You should get the B450 since its better and more modern and should be about the same price. Why use old tech that's not made anymore?

MERGED QUESTION
Question from dreamzagar : "Can I use RAM more than recommended on a non oc mobo"

It will definitely work (I am using 2400mhz ram on recommend 2133only). And it must supported by CPU other wise it will not work.
