Can I buy any exteranl HD for a Macbook air?

Wife's Macbook air is need more storage. Can I buy any external HD for it?

last time i used one i could use usb drives and also external optical dvd drives

unless it is a model without usb and requires a dongle adaptor, it should be connect and use after mounting it, click on it to see contents

being a mba, you could also consider to use only online storage like dropbox, not a device connected to the laptop

Of course you can buy an external hard drive for it.

NO idea what model to know if you have USB or Thunderbolt so you will need to get the appropriate drive, or normal usb drive + dongle adapter.
