Can I buy the same ram but not in a lot?

Hey, I (like the dumbass I am) when choosing the ram for my computer forgot to buy a dual channel 4gb kit so I only got one 8gb 2666hz memory. I have an AMD motherboard and the Kingston hyper x fury ddr4 memory. Would it be okay if I bought the exact same memory stick? Thank you. Apologies for my stupidity.

Hi Liam :)

The only reason for single channel imo would be budgetary reasons as dual channel gives increased performance.
It's never a good idea to mix RAM even of the same specs. Manufacturers warn you of this as slight variations in Latency can and do occur during manufacture and thats why kits are factory binned to conform and work together. Yes some do but most fail and mismatch.
Best is to return the 8GB kit or keep them as spares and purchase a (2x8) kit that are listed on the MB QVL and known to work.
