Hi,

I have a CL10 8GB stick of 1600MHZ HyperX FURY Blue DDR3 RAM. I want to upgrade it to 16GB. Can I just buy the "same stick" and will I be all right?

Thanks, Alex Kensit

It's a crapshoot, but yeah, you stand teh best chance of running dual channel by gettign the exact same stick you already own.
As long as it it is the same speed and timings it might work fine. I bought two sets of RAM at different times, but they are both the same thing. However the 'newer' set is older than first set purchased and has different timings. It has a matching XMP profile though so I was able to get them all running at the right speed. Still there is no guarantee they will work together nicely.

I've never understood the desire to purposely gimp your PC by only using a single RAM stick, good that you want to rectify this situation.

I don't think my RAM supports XMP anyway.

Yeah, both identical timings and speed.
