My router connects by cable to a cable modem which has just one ethernet port. Can I get internet to my PC by cable to the router's ethernet ports?

Thank you, ss202sl. The router is to be connected to the cable modem's only WAN port marked as "internet", where my PC is connected currently. I am setting up a wifi network for the use with my wireless IP cam and since the PC is not wifi enabled, I am looking for a way to reconnect it preferably by cable. According to my research, I can do that by using a USB wifi adapter, but I am hoping I can use a cable to connect to one of the router's four "ethernet" ports.
Is that what you mean in your kind answer?

That is how you hook a router up. The cable modem will only give you 1 ip address...generally to the first device plugged in. So the router needs to get this ip address and then it will share this with all the wifi device and device you plug into the lan port.

Be aware many times you must power cycle the modem when you change what you plug into it.
