I just did a clean install, partitioned 10 gb for Windows and the rest for, well, everything else.

Does anyone know how to set which "disk" everything (installs, downloads etc...) saves to. I get the feeling I should just right click on the big partition and choose "set as default" but alas, that has not been the case.

Thanks!

Running more than 1 partition or drive now requires 1 additional small task you must perform for everything you install. You will have to pay more attention to the little window every program prompts you with when you begin the install, you know the one that asks "Where do you want to install Blah, blahbity blah", and point it to the drive you wish it to be installed on, as they all default to drive C if you don't tell it anything different.
You must leave drive C as the OS drive or partition, so don't try to change that.

You should really install all your programs to the same partition as windows to avoid the occasional error. 10gb might be okay for xp but for vista you should have a much larger size (I generally set it to about 30gb). As to the rest of your question to change where things are downloaded is a browser setting. If your using firefox then its one of the "content" options. You can also move the location of the documents, pictures, etc. folder by right clicking on them and then under properties choosing to change location. Change the C to a D and they should move to your second partition.
