I'm currently using a cheapo "gaming" mouse form Sharkoon, the Shark Force. I'm currently loving the shape and ergonomics of the thing, especially considering it only cost me £10. The issue is that the sensor is pretty bad. It's reasonably accurate with little to no acceleration. But, I play games on low sensitivity and every time i try to do quick movements, I move quicker than the sensor allows and it basically stops tracking, stopping my turn.

Now I know that the easy option is to just buy a new mouse, and that is what i'll probably do. However I was curious whether I would be able to buy a better sensor as a component and replace the current sensor? Or buy another mouse with a better sensor and take the internals from that and put it in my current mouse.

I know it's pretty silly and more of an idea that I have more than anything else. But it'll be interesting to see what you guys say!

Thanks!

No, due to several reasons, Form Factor, Firmware, current, etc.

Transplanting complete PCB´s falls into the realm of anything is possible, however its going to be messy af.

So soldering on a sensor wouldn't work.

And I guess it's just not worth the effort to do that if I just buy a better mouse in the first place. But it'd be an interesting project for me to do in the future. Oh well, looks like i'm going to just have to shop around

what do you mean by “soldering wont work on a mouse sensor”?
