I purchased an HP Pavillion 27-R119 in 2018. This machine rocks and meets all my needs.

I was recently looking into the specs and noticed it has an M.2 socket 3 2280 SSD drive. It says 16GB NVMe 3D Xpoint drive and it shows a 1TB HDD, 7200 rpm. I think it is a hybrid drive though, can't remember.

I'm thinking I can get more juice out of it if I upgrade to a. NVMe 1TB SSD drive now.

However, if it is a hybrid, how would I change the harddrive since it is an OEM version of Windows on it. I can transfer that can I?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

are you using a Microsoft account? be sure windows is registered there

use the microsoft windows media creator tool with an USB flash drive

Exchange the HDD with the SSD and install windows on it using the usb flash drive

login to your microsoft account, windows should be activated automatically then

No, I'm not using a Microsoft account. Just a local account.

I upgraded to the Pro version of Windows 10. So, does that mean I can just use the same product key and reinstall windows on a new drive? But then I will lose the recovery partition? Or is there a way to create my own recovery partition?
