I am thinking of upgrading my hp notebook - 14-am059tu because the performance of the current processor (i5-6200u 2.3 Ghz) is kinda sluggish. Does anyone have any idea if it can be replaced by another 6th Gen ddr4 intel chip? All answers and suggestions will be appreciated.

Nope. Not replaceable.
i5-6200u is FCBGA chip - soldered onto motherboard.

Thanks youre a pocket saver . Was about to add to cart that i5 6500. My curiosity's gone now.
i5 6500 is desktop cpu on LGA1151 socket. i5-6200u is mobile FCBGA1356 cpu.
Desktop and laptop cpus are not really compatible
(except in some weird setups, where laptop cpu is soldered onto a custom pcb, so it can be inserted into a desktop socket).

Don’t you remember the 17” laptops that had a full fat 7700K in from a few years ago?
