Question Can I Connect A Logitec Z607 To A Sound Blaster Audigy Fx Card For 5.1 Sound?

I new to this 5.1 sound system stuff, so apologies if this is a really daft question.
I have tried to connect the Sound Blaster card to the Z607 via 3 cables, I used 3.5mm jack to twin phono leads. This doesn't work, the Z607 will not switch to 5.1 mode.
I have installed Sound Blaster SBX software and set it to 5.1 surround to no avail.
I have tried looking at 5.1CH Digital Sound Surround Decoders but I'm not sure if that is the right way to go?
I hope my question makes some sense and would really appreciate any advice
Thanks Dave

Mind sharing a picture of the wires/connectors you're working with? Ona side note, please parse a picture of how you've tethered said connectors to the speakers from your sound card. From what I can tell, it should work but you need to be careful which lead goes into which connector on the amplified subwoofer. Meaning that the 3.5mm end starts off from the sound card and terminates to the subwoofer.

I will do but how do I attach an image??

Please explain what you mean when your say it doesn't work. Is the source material truly 5.1 surround like a movie or game, or is it just 2.0 channels with surround simulation. Is windows set up for a 5.1 device and if you run a channel test what does this show? Otherwise the cabling sounds like its correct so it could be either a windows setting or a lack of genuine 5.1 source material.

Thanks for replying, actually i beginning to thing the Z607 is faulty, as it will not switch to the 5.1 or 2.1 channels. The Bluetooth & radio work but when I select 2.1 or 5.1 it displays that on the display for a few seconds then switches back to show BW

Perhaps the remote only allows switching modes when the systems already senses a 5.1 input. I would try playing back a movie or other source where I was sure that 5.1 was being output. For example I use Media Player Classic Home Cinema where I know for certain that it is passing through 5.1 sound from a movie or tv show. If its possible I would verify that the Sound Blaster SBX software is properly decoding the 5.1 sound; you could connect a simple set of headphones to each of the 3 outputs on the sound card to see if there's appropriate sound coming out of each. At that point you would at least be able to verify that 5.1 sound is reaching the speaker controller.

Thanks for that, I use the same setup on another pc with a lower spec Logitech system and I get perfect 5.1 but that is 3.5mm to 3.5mm. I’ll try plugging headphones in as you suggest. Thanks

I noticed on the SBX software control panel where the speakers settings are, there is a Test button. Does anything happen when you press that?
In the windows control panel/sounds I can see the bar graph showing signal but as the Z607 jumps back to BT, there’s no sound to be heard. Thinking now, either the 607 is faulty or the sound blaster is. Thanks
