Question Can I connect an old PC to a 144hz monitor

So I am planning to build a system with a 1660 Ti which I know supports 144hz. But I can't keep that PC for long because I need to sell it. So, the other PC that I want to use has an i5-2400 with intel hd 2000 graphics. The computer has a DP port on the mobo. I am not planning to play games on that computer but rather only retain the smoothness beyond that point. So, will it work?

It will most likely work and the easiest way to find out would be to actually attempt to use it. They've had support for 1080p 144hz since 2007.

Yeah, why wouldn't it, the GPU and monitor can both display 144Hz.

I may be annoying at this point, but are you talking about the intel hd 2000?
