Can I connect both a dvi and a hdmi cable to my monitor

Can I connect both a dvi and a hdmi cable to my monitor from my nvidia graphics card at the same time (to save swapping round when playing between 3d and 144 hertz gaming) I have both connections obviously,but can only use the hdmi for 3d (not 144 hertz).-

If you are running #D [ with the glasses ] you have to be running 120 Hz or so anyway

Hi Outlander_04, my monitor (which will hopefully arrive Tuesday) - Asus VG278HR 27", I believe can only run 3d in hdmi mode and not run 3d at 120 or 144 hertz on dvi.
I was thinking to run dvi at 120 or 144 hertz for gaming, as I believe it is clearer and faster, and just switching to hdmi for 3d films.
Though I may see what the hdmi output is like for 3d gaming (I believe it to be not n a par with 120/144 hertz dvi?-
Hence I wondering if I can leave both leads connected, and switch the monitor settings. Does this make sense?-

Hz is the same as the fps your monitor can display .

If your graphics card is outputting 60 fps then thats all you will see , not 144

Just use the HDMI . I do not think you will have a problem , or need the DVI

I also forgot to mention I have x2 Nvidia GTX 680's running in Sli, so I am looking forward to seeing what the results will look like.
