I thought of buying the new amd radeon rx 480 for gaming like far cry 4, gta 5 but i came to know that this graphic card has no vga port so can i connect my monitor to the vga port available on the motherboard and still use the graphic card for gaming ?

You can connect a monitor to the integrated graphics (if you make sure to keep them enabled when a GPU is installed), however you cant use it for gaming. It will provide a great way to run a secondary monitor, but not a solution for gaming.

What card are you buying? Most come with a DVI to VGA adapter.

Amd radeon 480

I thought RX 480 was digital outputs only, like Pascal cards? So even if aftermarket cards come with DVI, they would need to incorporate an D/A converter to provide VGA or DVI-I outputs? Given the rush on these GPUs, I'd be surprised if anyone has customised the cards to that extent already. I'm happy to be proved wrong, of course!

I think OP's only option is an "active" adaptor or external converter... no?
