Can I connect one screen to my GPU and the other to CPU?

Hi, just wondering is it possible to connect one of my monitors on my graphics card and then my other one on my CPU/Motherboard. I have done it before but when I do it now I just get a no single from my CPU/Motherboard.

The reason I need to do this is I only have two HDMI cables in my house to use.

what type of gpu do you have because you can have say gtx 1070 and a GT 1030 in the same pc for more imputs

You can connect two monitors to a single graphics card if your graphics card has multiple connectors. You have to set it up, so we would need to know what video card you are using and if it has two HDMI ports in back.

It can be any gpu as long as it is the same manufactor, it would be like 20 bucks or less

Yes you can drive a monitor with dedicated GPU and another with the iGPU in your CPU assuming:
(a) Your CPU has iGPU, and
(b) Your motherboard supports iGPU output, and
(c) Your BIOS allows you to enable both dGPU and iGPU, and
(d) Your BIOS settings have, in fact, enabled both.

As AnimeMania points out, most dGPUs support multiple monitors, so this is also an option for you.

My GPU does support multiple monitors however I only have 1 HDMI port on it and both my displays only support HDMI.

Make sure both adapters are "Enabled" in Windows and both monitors are powered on. If that still does not work, a miniDisplayPort to HDMI adapter might work for you if your dGPU has a miniDP jack. Something like this:
