Three months ago I sold my PC and bought an Acer One 10 10.1" inch Intel Atom with 32GB eMMC storage.

All of my old PC parts were sold except two internal WD Caviar Green 2TB hard drive, and one 750GB WD Caviar Green HDD, because I still want to keep my old files.

Then last week I need to access my old internal HDD to copy some files, and I bought an ORICO 6203SS SV Tool Free 3 Bay 3.5 inch SATA HDD Mobile Rack through an online store, because I thought it was a HDD Enclosure which is used to adapt an internal hard drive into an external drive.

Then I knew that I was wrong when the enclosure arrived, it's a mobile rack with a SATA port and 15 pins power supply port (the online store wrote "internal HDD Enclosure" on it's title though :pt1cable: ).

I wonder if I can turn it as an USB HDD Enclosure?
Can I use a SATA to USB cable? But how about SATA 15pin power supply?
or I should just sell it and buy a HDD adapter.

I really appreciates for your help.

Thanks,

You bought the wrong item, that's for mounting internally inside a large tower desktop PC and connecting to an internal SATA power supply cable. It's designed for systems where you want to be able to easily remove the drive to lock it away at the end of the day (eg companies who have sensitive data to protect).

For connecting a single desktop drive externally you need a 3.5-inch SATA hard drive enclosure which plugs in to a USB port. One like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/CiT-inch-SATA-Aluminium-Enclosure/dp/B00JKW3CEA/ref=sr_1_48?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1443525868&sr=1-48&keywords=3.5+inch+external+hard+drive+enclosure

Thanks for the quick reply, Phillip..

Yes, I thougt so.. :pfff:

So is it better for me to sell the wrong 3-bay enclosure and buy a new one which plugs in to a USB port?
Or maybe there is a way to make it work with my laptop?

Thanks again.
