hello guys.. it might be a stupid question but i just want to make sure that I'm stupid..
can i connect ps3 directly to a router using ethernet cable without pc? And Also (Without internet cable)? the one that goes from the line to the router. meaning the ONLY cable i'll be using between my router and ps3 is the Ethernet cable

Solution
from wall to router you need a cable else there is no access to the internet
from the PS3 to the router you need a cable and just doing that directly is fine.

okay thanks. one last question..
if using a PC, can i plug Ethernet cable from pc to ps3 and my USB modem plugged into my pc using connection sharing?.. i heard that might not be legal getting ps3 online using this method.

Ah I see. No idea on legality.

On PC for that network connection, share the connection.
On PS3 (if you can) set the gateway to the PC's IP address? This might work.

OR

Use the dongle on the PC, turn the PC into a hotspot and connect via wifi, saves having to fiddle with gateways etc.
