Can I use motherboard hdmi to connect my 5.1 Sony speakers for surround n dolby sound?

Solution

1. Yes, Gpu to receiver HDMI in & Receiver HDMI arc to monitor HDMI.
2. You should get 5.1, if audio is configured to 5.1 in Windows.

There wont be any power issues right when connected to PC? I have 4 socket Belkin cord..

I'm not clear what you are asking, what power issue are you concerned about? Does your 4 socket Belkin cord have battery backup or is it only surge protection?

It should be fine. Belkin would not put 4 sockets on the power cord if they thought it might be dangerous. In any case all the electrical wiring in your house or apartment run to a main circuit breaker panel that will trip off if any lines become overloaded.

Hey, a quick update.. I just talked to Sony live support..
What he says is ' u cannot able to connect it to PC via HDMI as it is not Recommanded..
He says HT being the central hub is not recommanded like 3way..

And also HDMI IN 1 and 2 supports Dolby True HD and DTS HD. HDMI out Arc supports only Dolby digital. Which means there won't be any TRUE HD sound right?

So,what do you think on this.?

You can try it yourself and see if you are happy with the sound or not. Did he tell you how he thought you should hook it up?

He said 3 way is not recommended as the receiver not tested that way.. As per your view it should work right ?

GPU out ->IN-Receiver-Out->Monitor ..In this way if play any movie from my pc/harddisk then receiver do the rest of the stuff to get it display on monitor right ?

Yes, it will display on your monitor.

The reason why i'm asking because i have lot of 4k HDR 10 bit Dolby digital movies on my Hard drive and i want it to experience the true Audio.. Sadly i can't connect IV300 to my TV as it doesn't have HDMI ARC or Digital Audio for Dolby Digital...

The fact that your TV does not have HDMI ARC or Digital Audio should not matter. Your Sony HT-IV300 speakers play the audio from your video cards HDMI out and sends the unaltered video signal through to your TV. What is your video card?
