I purchased a new 64 bit computer that does not have any 16 bit slots on the mother board, and it runs on windows 7. I have a HP scanjet IIcx flat bed scanner and would like to run it with the new computer. If I can connect it using a usb is there drivers that will allow it to function proberly?

Suggest you check out the HP site for a driver set probably including Twain for your scanner for Win 7. If the scanner is USB an if there's a driver for Win 7 I can't see any problem.

The HP Scanjet IIcx has a SCSI interface.
If you have a PCI slot you can put a Adaptec AHA-2940 PCI SCSI Controller in it or similar.
Then install HP DeskScan 2_9 and Copy Utility for HP ScanJet Scanners.
It works for Windows 7 in my case.
