:??:I have a TP-LINK TL-MR3420 wifi router. I used it with a boardband fiber optice line. Now I have shifted into a new location. In there only ADSL boardband connection is available. It needs a telephone line.I have it also. But the information i want to know
1.Can I use my router with a ADSL modem?
2.If I can, then do I have to configure the router or only the ADSL modem throuh my laptop?

If anyone can give me this information, I will be so much thankful.

Thanks 4r ur reply Markkk. But the Internet service provider will give me a modem that has only one LAN port and it is not a router also. And most of all I have a wifi router(http://www.tp-link.com.bd/products/details/?categoryid=218&model=TL-MR3420).I want to use it with ADSL modem. So my question is,CAN I DO THAT?

Yes

You use the New Modem from your provider which plugs into power and Phone jack.

Using a Ethernet cable plug it into both the new Providers ADSL modem (single lan port) and into your TP link Lan port (any yellow one should do) along with power

This will then work and a hub and Wifi access point for the ADSL.

If the Wifi is not connecting to the internet you may need to route the wifi within the setting of the TP link but it should just be plug and play as before.

Thanks again...Markkk.You told that I can connect my ADSL modem with a TP-LINK router. But I want to know that the router I have(THE LINK I HAVE GIVEN),can it be connected with a ADSL modem or I need a new router.

OK

Your current TP Link will not provide internet by itself it needs to plug into a network.

Meaning it Needs to plug into a Network device which has access to the internet IE ADSL Modem, Cable Modem or other internet connected Device. like the one your service provider will give you that has 1 Lan port

To explain it another way your TP Link Device is like a Motor-home with no engine... The ADSL modem is 1 door car with a Engine - u can tow the Motor-home with the 1 door car thus being able to experience all the benefits of your Motor-home.

Thanks so much Markkk.
Got some important info's from you.So you are saying I can use the router which model I have that I mentioned to you with any modem ADSL/Cabel,isn't it? & another thing I want to ask that is,now that I can use my router with a ADSL modem which will be given to me by my ISP.So the thing is my Internet service provider will not set up my router. Now how do I set up & configure the modem and the router for the first time through my PC?
ADSL Modem Model:Huawei SmartAX MT882a (http://www.clickbd.com/bangladesh/291123-huawei-smartax-mt882a-adsl-modem.html)

Your ISP will support the installation of the modem they provide to you.
Follow instructions supplied from the ISP
If you need help your ISP will assist you in this part.

Your ISP won't cover 3rd part devices like your TP Link... (some tech may help) But don't worry

Once your Modem is working - Simply change lan cable from PC to TP Link

Think of the Modem as A power socket - it supports 1 plug (lan pc)
Your TP Link WIFI is like a 4 Way power adapter just expands options - Plug it in and go. No config necessary.
Your TP Link was configured before for your wifi so you should be good to go when you plug it back in

thanks so much Markkk, this was helpful.
But the thing is previously I was using OPICAL FIBER CABLE modem. But now I am going to use the TP-LINK router with a ADSL modem. So I dont need to configure anything in the router, just plug it in?
