Question Can i convert old laptop hdd IDE to pc internal or external sata?

hey there, i have like 2-5 old laptop ide hdd storage, which i want to use them on my primary deskktop as internal storage, can i do that? and how? which convert do i need? and will the desktop recognize them?

60GB and 40GB.

1/10 the size of a current $40 1TB SATA drive.
Old, 15+ years old. Likely to die sooner rather than later.
Slow.

If there is any critical data on these you really need, get a USB-IDE cable or dock. Copy the data off, and retire these old things.

They work as either type; converting an IDE drive to sata motherboard or a sata drive to an IDE motherboard.
You will also need to supply power to these as well as to the IDE drive. Check that your PSU has these connectors available.

Give the age of your drives, they may have had their magnetic signals on the platters degrade beyond being recoverable/usable again.
