I just built my new gaming computer and the last component I need is the os to boot. I have windows 7 on my laptop, and I was wondering if I could copy windows 7 from my laptop onto a flash drive that I can then install into my new computer.

Solution
No, for a couple of reasons.

1. A clone from an OS on a laptop to a desktop almost certainly will not boot.

2. Licensing. The OS license for that laptop is almost certainly an OEM license, and as such will not activate with the desktop motherboard.

3. Even if it did, then you'll have a laptop with no valid OS.

4. And you can't just copy the OS to a flash drive and expect it to work. It doesn't do that.
