Can I crossfire 2 different name brand GPU's?

I am in the process of building a new system and I already have a XFX Radeon 6870 and I want to add a second GPU and I have read that you can crossfire two cards as long as they are the same class such as 68** but can I use two different brands? I am looking at another 6870 but its from Powercolor so would that work with my current card?

As long as they are the same series 68xx. I would worry more about the psu then the cards. Make sure you have proper power supply and pin connectors for crossfire.

Thank you, I wasnt aware of that. I have a Corsair HX750W modular power supply, I have looked on the box and cant find anything that mentions crossfire I will look online. What is it I can look for on the actual power supply to find out for sure.

Your PSU will be fine for 2 6870s, 12 volt amps is the important thing on a power supply, crossfire and SLI certs are just for marketing.
