Can I crossfire two different AMD R9 cards?

I'm upgrading from an R9 280 card to an R9 390X card. I want to know if I am able to crossfire the two. Also does anyone know what the wattage is for the 280? Thanks.

No, you can't xfire a 280 and 390x.

AMD crossfire is less strict than Nvidia SLI but to CF you still need two cards with tje same chip inside. 280s is based on Tahiti and 390 is based on Grenada (tweak Hawaii chip hence 390s able to CF with 290s)
