Alright, I'm building a new system for the first time and am planning to reuse my current hard drive. It came with Win 8 preinstalled, so here is my question.

I think the Win 8 is tied to my current motherboard, so I can't just reuse Win 8 in my new computer, right? I won't have a proper product key.

Well, what if I upgrade to Win 10? Can I then plug my current hard drive into my new motherboard and boot with Win 10 without issue? I'm pretty new to all this.

I don't know if I want to buy a new 2TB hard drive.
