I recently bought a MSI P67A-G43 motherboard: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=59095&vpn=P67A-G43%20%28B3%29&manufacture=MSI%2FMicroStar

and a Kingston HyperX 2X4GB 1600Mhz 1.65v memory: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=57869&vpn=KHX1600C9D3K2%2F8GX&manufacture=Kingston&promoid=1301

I just realized from reading that Sandy Bridge specification recommends the use of a 1.5v memory instead of 1.65v. So my question is, will I be able to downclock the memory from 1600Mhz 1.65v to 1333Mhz 1.5v so as to "comply" to the Sandy Bridge specification? I'm not really sure what XMP means if that's relevant here. I can also just exchange this RAM and get a 1600Mhz @ 1.5v for $10 more, not sure if it's worth it though.

My processor is a i5-2500k and I plan to overclock to 4.2Ghz. I'm not sure if memory will affect that.

Yes you can run the ram at 1333mhz @ 1.5V if you want to.

However 1.65V ram should work fine and like Novuake stated, you will have better performance @ 1600mhz
Ram will not affect the overclocking of a Sandy Bridge chip

I've seen too many posts saying that it's not a good idea to do so.
