It totally depends, do you mean a new desktop? Or a new laptop?
If you are talking about a desktop...
Since you have a laptop currently, laptops use 2.5" drive bays, whereas desktops use 3.5" bays. Whilst they use the same connectors, this can cause problems mounting the drive in the case.
If you are talking about a laptop or desktop...
Technically this should work. There are certain compatibility issues with older drives and new kit. If the old drive is IDE (PATA, the wide and thin cable) then this will require a 4 pin moxex power connector and a IDE data cable. New motherboards may not have the correct slots for the IDE data cable. I would check the capabilities of your newer kit before buying, to avoid disappointment.
