Can I drop my hardrive into a newer computer somehow and keep all my programs?

Whats are the differences between old and new PC? Name CPU's...

I Plugged in my Vertex2 from E6750 to 2600K PC and everything worked fine without 1 error.

But I would not recommend that to keep it that way.

Why would u want to do that? Re-installation of everything is question of 1-2 hrs.

emiiru,
It totally depends, do you mean a new desktop? Or a new laptop?
If you are talking about a desktop...
Since you have a laptop currently, laptops use 2.5" drive bays, whereas desktops use 3.5" bays. Whilst they use the same connectors, this can cause problems mounting the drive in the case.
If you are talking about a laptop or desktop...
Technically this should work. There are certain compatibility issues with older drives and new kit. If the old drive is IDE (PATA, the wide and thin cable) then this will require a 4 pin moxex power connector and a IDE data cable. New motherboards may not have the correct slots for the IDE data cable. I would check the capabilities of your newer kit before buying, to avoid disappointment.
Just let us know if you need any more info!
