I have a HP Compaq 4000 Pro (SFF) PC that I wanted to buy a GPU for since it only has an integrated GPU.

My cousin recommended me an Nvidia GT series GPU, A GT 610 one but he told me to make sure it fits into the PC, I know they aren't the best but I am trying to make this PC as cheap as possible to run some games, Can I fit a GT 610 into the PCI-e slot of the HP Compaq 4000 Pro (SFF) that I have?

Specs:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz 3.00 GHz
RAM: 4GB DDR3 (Dual Channel)
GPU (integrated): Intel B43 Express Chipset
Storage: 1x 80GB HDD, 1x 500GB HDD

OS: Windows 10 (Home)
Version: 21H1
build: 19043.1149

(normally you can only add 1 HDD, I added another by taking out the SATA cables from the DVD drive and using them with the second HDD, the DVD drive doesn't work anymore but I didn't use it anyway.)

It has a PCI-e slot and I did some research and people say that a GT 610 can be added onto it, I hope it does!

Unless you intend to only run games from that era it's not worth any extra expense to upgrade a 10 year old machine that was originally intended for business use. The power supply has aged to the point that it might not handle the (even though its not immense) extra load of a GPU.

Intend to play games from that era indeed, Not anything super fancy, CSGO runs on the source engine and isn't that heavy as other games, I run it on my integrated GPU on like 10 fps, Keep in mind the integrated GPU is absolute garbage, I want it for a minimal gaming experience.

Assuming it physically fits into the space (it will fit into the PCI-Ex16 slot), then yes. You can install a GT 610 graphics card into that system.

Somebody on LTT Forums also said that I need to replace the GPU bracket with a low profile one that can fit into which isn't that hard, He said that the GPU comes with the low profile bracket anyways but if it doesn't I can just buy one very easily and replace it, If I can't find one however I am also able to take off the back part of the PC entirely so that it will still fit.

My main concern was internal components; like if a heat sink was in the way.

a GT 610 is almost worthless, please don't waste money. That thing is nearly twice weaker than the GT 530 I used for a short time during the gpu crisis, and a 530 could barely play any game.

good chance you can fit a GT 1030 into your case. It's a small gpu that can fit into small cases. :)

if you're getting a GT 1030, I suggest the GDDR5 version.

Sorry but it's my only choice here, A GT 1030 here is almost 2000$ online, A GT 610 is like 400$, I can try get a GT 530 or GT 730 but I don't know about their prices.

Thanks for the recommendation tho.

2,000 dollars for a GT 1030? From which scammer are you buying from? Just kidding. LOL

a GT 1030 is just 100$ here in my country. From what country are you from?

surely, there are better deals online.
___

GT 610 for 400$? Don't buy. Seriously, NO. That's a scam price, the person who would sell a GT 610 for 400$ to you would be laughing so hard afterwards. That thing is 20$ at best in the second hand store that I buy from. And people don't even buy, because a 610 has very little graphical horsepower for gaming.

You're spending $400 on a GT 610? I'd get nothing in that case; CS:GO on a GT 610 is still going to be a miserable experience and that's an absurd amount of money to pay for a GT 610.

What country are you in? We might have better ideas for you than this.
Egypt, Africa, Pretty bad currency.

You do realize that 20USD is 380EGP, +Tax.

I don't realize because I don't live in your country?

my post saying a GT 610 is only 20 dollars here in my country, is because you said you were about to buy it for 400 dollars.
400 dollars is already more than enough to buy a brand new RTX 2060 over here.

in the korean second hand store near my house. GT 610 is piled along with GT 530, HD5450, and other low powered gpu. They are all sold for very cheap price of 20 dollars each, no tax because second hand.

now, I'm not saying this to insult you or anything.. using a GT 610 is fine during desperate time when there's no other gpu to use, I did use a GT 530 during the GPU crisis. But it's madness to buy a Gt 610 for 400 dollars. Twenty dollars is the highest I would pay for one of these antique gpu.

20 dollars is about 400 pounds in my country, Which is a bit high, Imagine a GPU from 2012 that isn't that great is 400 pounds, Then an average gaming GPU is gonna be worth thousands.

A GT 610 is better than a GMA 4500 and thats why I wanna get it.
