I currently have a not very old 970A UD3P Rev 1 I believe Motherboard, which is AM3+ compatible ? (I Think) therefore could I upgrade from my Phenom 2 Hexcore to a bulldozer ? I know its older tech now, but the board is young the system is solid and running smooth, I just would like a newer more powerful CPU than the Phenom. I cannot find a list of compatible CPU's for this board anywhere, and the most powerful (They should still be availible and cheaper now ) Thank in advance.

The official list of supported CPUs is here: https://www.gigabyte.com/Ajax/SupportFunction/Getcpulist?Type=Product&Value=4717.
It supports all up to the 8370. However, for some CPUs, you will need to update to BIOS version F2g beforehand. Note that the high core FX CPUs are big energy drainers and also run hot, so you might need a new PSU, and new cooler if the CPU you buy doesn't come with one.
