Can I get a RAM recommendation?

I have noticed the recent boom in gaming technology to require 8GB of ram for MINIMUM. Yeah, MINIMUM. Crazy.. Anyways, I have upgraded everything in my PC (thus learned everything about those things) but RAM remains un-upgraded, therefore not knowing anything about it. I just want you guys' opinion, I don't need no crazy LED lights, ultra fast 5000Ghz clock speeds and 50V. Something for a simple gamer.

What I want:
16 GB +
Support for all my other stuff
Mediocre-ish-ly fast

What I have:
FX-6100
GA970-UD3P
R9 270X
Chieftec 600W ''Smart''

There's virtually no difference in gaming between 1333, 1600, 1866, or 2133 mhz frequency. CL9 is a safe CAS Latency to be at.

So 1333, 1600, 1866, or 2133 mhz plus CL9. Whatever is least expensive with those criteria.

There is plenty of performance difference, especially on AMD CPUs since they have weak IMC. Perhaps you should read this:

That information is really only relevant to AMD CPU's that lack their own L3 Cache. That is where the RAM frequency increase benefits. OP has an FX-6100 with its own L3 Cache - an increase in RAM frequency is negligible. Especially once you're at 1333 +.

I'd honestly like to get an Athlon II 760k, OC it on water and strap it with 2133 MHZ RAM. It's so superfluous and unnecessary but I love the idea of squeezing performance out of such an inexpensive CPU by two different methods. The only reason I won't consider it for my next low budget / HTPC build is due to the lack of upgrade-ability. I hate switching motherboards out of PC's and I learned my lesson from investing in a HTPC built around the Llano A8-3870k. Great little APU but nowhere to go when you're done with it.

Any how, in defense of my RAM speed, anything over 1600 mhz was just a waste of money in my build. If I could've gotten higher for the same price I would have - but obviously that was not the case.

You got to watch prices. For instance last week there were some TridentX 2400CL10s on sale for as cheap as generic ram.
