Im getting some parts soon and I'm wondering if its a good starter build for gaming.

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.2 GHz
GPU: GTX 1060 or Rx 580
Mobo: MSI B350 TOMAHAWK AM4 ATX AMD Motherboard
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB 2 x 4GB DDR4-3200
HDD: SeaGate Barracuda 2 TB, 7200 rpm
SSD: Samsung 960 EVO 250 GB V-NAND PCIe Gen 3
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNova 650 Watt

Solution
Agreed about the RAM, 16GB is becoming standard... also, I take it it's the 6GB 1060? and not the 3GB one... because the 3GB version just can't cut it with most new big titles that are coming out... the way things are looking 4GB of VRAM is minimum acceptable these days... but yeah seems pretty solid.
Looks like a good gaming pc to me! I would make sure you get a case that can hold ATX mobo and other parts, most cases these days can but if you are going to use an old case it might not.

yea I am looking at the 6 gb one but if im not mistaken the prices for those 2 graphics cards are through the roof. I even heard RAM prices are higher than normal too

If you are in the UK you can pick up a 1060 for around £300 but compared to the 4GB RX 580 for the same price, there's no contest the 1060 wins hands down...and yeah, RAM prices are pretty high at the moment too... for 16GB your looking between £80 and £160 depending on make, model, speed etc...
