Can I get DDR4 on my system?

I am looking to get more memory as my current 8GB is lacking. However most of the stuff I can find is DDR4. How do I find out if my motherboard/processor can support it?

I have a Gigabyte Z87-D3H and Intel i5-4670K.

It does not. DDR3 only.

There are, of course, a zillion DDR3 examples at Amazon

However, just adding more RAM to your existing 8GB may or may not work. Mixing RAM sticks is always a crapshoot.

No all LGA 1150 boards like your gigabyte z87 only support ddr3, you need skylake or x99 for ddr4. Why do you need more ram? What do you use this pc for?

Get another 8GB DDR3 kit of the RAM you already have. It's what's most likely to work.

Thanks for the answers, I know on the specs it says ddr3 only buy didn't know if that changes with firmware updates.
And I wasn't going to add it to my existing RAM, I s going to replace it. I will just get ddr3 that's no problem.

Firmware does not change that. The sticks are physically different. The alignment slot is in a different place, to prevent someone from plugging the wrong RAM in.
It actually would not fit.
