[SOLVED] Can I get my data off my External Hard Drive before Formatting? (It stopped working in Windows 10 suddenly)

I have a "My Passport" extrenal hard drive originally formatted for use between mac and windows machines. I'm not sure but I think it was FAT32....could be a different one but it worked. Recently I only been using it in my windows 10 machine. No problems, then all of a sudden my PC will not access it giving me a message to format the drive. I know my data is still there because I can access movies files and see the folders on my smart TV via USB. I have some files on there that are important to me and don't want to format it before at least trying to get my data off the drive. Is there a way to transfer the files before formatting? Thanks in advance.

If you can access it from another device, then you should be able to pull out what you need. Though before you do that, see if you can run CHKDSK on it with the /f option.
