I have two ASUS VG248QE's which both ran at 1080p@144hz off of my RTX 2080 via DisplayPorts. Everything was fine up until I just got my HP Reverb headset which only runs off of DisplayPort & USB 3.0 which creates the problem of 3 devices needing access to my GPU's two displayports.
In the meantime, I've got hdmi cables that can run the second monitor but only at 60hz limited by the monitor's port, not the cable. My mobo has one dvi and one displayport that could help but from a quick google search it does not seem like both the gpu and motherboard can be used at the same time. Unless that's incorrect, there isn't enough good ports on my mobo either.
What options do I have to make a permanent setup where both monitors run at 144hz, and leaving the VR headset plugged in?
Obviously I can plug them in and out as I need but I'm looking for permanent solutions here. I also could look into upgrading the gpu or perhaps running SLI, but that's a lot of money for little value imo but maybe I'm wrong. I do believe I need to upgrade my cpu/mobo soon as I'm still rocking a i7-4770K @ 4.4 limiting me to DDR3 ram, so if I can avoid GPU bumps, I'd like to.
