Can I get Windows OS preinstalled on a USB?

So I'm thinking of making my own computer and putting windows 8/10 OS on it. However, I don't want to buy an optical drive and my only current computer is a mac. From what I've seen, to install windows without a disc, you need windows on a different computer to transfer or download the files.

Is there a way to get windows onto a new computer without a disc and without previously having windows? Do any places sell Windows OS on an actual usb?

For Windows 10, Microsoft does (or will) sell it on USB.
Or, you could just use/borrow a friends computer for an hour.

I read that Windows 10 will be available at retail outlets on USB.
