can I ghost a hard drive to an ssd

I am purchasing a Toshiba Radius P55W with a 750GB hard drive, Windows 8.1 Pro. No other data. I want to transfer it to a Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500 GB. Can I just use ghosting SW or is it trickier than that?

nope. both uses different track. that's why "migration software" took over the HDD to SDD transfer.

Any cloning software will do the job. Several free ones are available.

yep. as @McHenryB said it will also work... but ghost was discontinued on April 30, 2013. and it doesn't support ghosting to SSD.

oops, diff version i guess. my colleague didn't use "Ghost Solution Suite, 2.5.1" but he did trash he's SSD cause of ghost. well im gonna guess other versions dont support ssd. maybe that's why..
