So here is the build I am planning on making:

So I have a choice to make and would like some help. I have two options, 1: Buy a Ryzen 3 1200 and get a more expensive motherboard 2: Buy a Ryzen 5 1400 and get a really cheap $85 motherboard that still has all the ports and connectors that I need. Because of my strict budget there is no room for flexibility and it has to be one or the other. I am finding myself wanting to get the Ryzen 5 with the intent to not bottleneck the gtx 1060. Will the crappy motherboard affect performance or cause issues in the future or will it be fine to use?

Thanks in advance

Much better gaming PC, just get $18 more:

Your question should be... How many threads do I need for what I want to do?
For games, few will make effective use of more than 2-3 threads so the 1200 might be ok.
A less expensive motherboard might omit cf capability, but that is not an issue for a budget build.

OTOH, if editing or other multithreaded apps are more important, then 8 threads from the 1400 will be better.
Each processor will oc to about the same level.

With your budget why not consider the new intel i3-8100?
Here is a comparison with the 1300

Thanks for the help again, but i really dont want to change the case or the graphics card. I feel like 3GB vram will be enough for my purposes. The gtx 1060 3gb isnt a bad card is it?
