So I bought a PC for christmas. It hasn't arrived yet, but a further look at the components shows that the motherboard supports a maximum of 1789mb GPU. Mine is the gtx760, a 2GB GPU. Can I use the graphics card with this motherboard? And if so, will it make performance worst?

idk gaming,

Although the wording in your query reads, ",..the motherboard supports a maximum of 1789mb GPU", I think the 1789MB actually refers to the maximum amount of RAM that the system will dedicate to integrated graphics- the "VGA shared memory". As far as I know, this is an access limit and is not automatically dedicating that amount to a potential integrated graphics. The full 2GB of the GTX 760 will be useable.
