This might be a really really stupid question, but can i have too much airflow in my case? Because i'm thinking about buying the Fractal Design Venturi HF-14. It has 118.2 CFM and only makes
26.5 dBA.
So if i get 2 front and 1 rear, would it be okay?

Another thing, should i have one of the front fans on the bottom intake, instead of front intake?

BTW. I have the Fractal Design R5.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, i just want to know. 😛

Airflow is usually a balance between noise and cooling. More airflow == more cooling and usually == more noise. That's why if you've ever heard a 1U server spin up, it's ridiculously loud (40mm fans spinning at 10,000 rpm make a lot of racket. Likewise the squirrel cage fans are pretty noisy too. Servers though prioritize airflow over noise.

So - the main point to find is that point where the computer is running cool enough under load while being tolerable from a noise point of view. That's your 'ideal' balance. Your 'nominally ideal' full load temp points are:

CPU: 55-60C
GPU: 75-80C
HDD: 35C

So - as long as you're around those under load, you have enough airflow. If it's super quiet, you COULD add more. If you're running hotter than that, you SHOULD add more. Again, it's all a balancing act.

Thanks! Should i put 1 at the bottom or 2 front?
Oh, and should i buy the Define S instead of R5? I'm not gonna have a windowed version.
