I have a Dell Inspiron 3521. I've been trying to improve my processor and have come across Prime95 an others. Will it work on my laptop.
PS: No turbo boost. Running Win8

In short: NO.

First off, laptop processors are soldered in and not upgradable. Then because laptops are designed for portability, the designers place low power, so it doesn't drain the battery fast as their priority. This also makes sense because of a laptop's inherent crammed space and very tough to vent any extra heat produced.

The only upgrade you *maybe* possible to your laptop are: switch HD to SSD and max out ram if you are swapping a lot.

even if you manage to, to a certain degree. the heat and power consumption would (to me) not worth it.
i mean, all laptops that i have tried, playing games on them, they heat really heat up.

think of it this way, when people oc the cpu on desktops, they buy third parth cooler because the stock cooler is not good enough for that. now that stock cooler is (i am guessing) bigger than what laptops have. if that is inadequate, then more so for the laptop cooler
