I have a HP pavillion p7 1414 with upgraded ram at 22 gigs. I would like to increase the onboard graphics ram to 1 gig it seems to be stuck at 512. Can i do this and how?
Hello... Ya that can be problem with OEM BIO's, check their website and forums if there is a "Secret Key" or something your not seeing in the BIO's... But that is the place WE non-OEM builders find it.
What is your CPU?
my machine the hp p7 1414 can go to 32 gigs it has a matching pair of 8 gig g-skill ram at 8x2 and a 4 and a 2 gig that were in the machine when i bought it they are all matching Cas and Type at ddr3 1600-pc312800. its loading very fast and runs very well but Video ram is saying 512 ram im starting to think it has a built in video card and does not share the system ram but has its own 512. if this is the case i will need a Card.

Yeah - 32gb - but a kit. Not a mixed bag of ram sticks.
As it turns out you can Not Increase the Onboard video ram of this Machine.
It is at 512 and will stay at 512.
This means i need a Powersupply and i need a video card. Any suggestions for a quality not to exspensive Video card would be apretiated. The current plan is an EVGA 4 gig gddr5 that is 128bit. I can get this card for about 150$ or less.
It will require me to change the powersupply from 300 to 450. I looked at 600 wats so i have a little extra to play with if i want to add something else later.
You'll have to check to see if a standard atx power supply is compatible with the hardware already in the case. And you'll have to check what max length video card will fit in the case - by measuring. HP don't supply that sort of info. Other people who have posted an intent to upgrade a pre-built (usually HP or Dell) have quite often given up because of the complexities involved.
