Can i install a new power supply?

Ok so i recently bought the intel inspiron i3847-5386BK desktop. it has the i5 processor and 12gb of ram, but it runs off the integrated graphics. now I looked around the internet to try and find what power supply it had, and the only source I could find says that its ONLY 220 WATTS. thats not enough for the kind of graphics card i want. so my question is: can i replace the power supply with something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139026
or really any 350-450 power supply? and what makes a power supply compatible? also.. im new to putting computers together, and all those wires are a bit scary. how easy is it? thanks for reading!!

I'm leaning towards yes, you can upgrade the power supply.

Looking at the picture, it looks like the power supply has standard dimensions. I went over to amazon and look at some user questions and one user specified that he had replaced the power supply so that he could upgrade the gpu. This makes me think that it is a standard size.

No promises, but I am leaning that way.

As for difficulty, just make sure you take note of ever connection you disconnect. Maybe take pictures and write notes if that makes it easier for you. It isn't very difficult.

220 Watts is for the Small Form Factor version of the i3847-5386BK.

Your Mini Tower version should have come with a 300 Watt power supply unit.

Oh wait that is quite important. Small form factors tend to have proprietary PSUs.

Measure the psu in there and compare it to standard psus.

also how do you know that mine is the one with the 300 watt instead of the 220

You might have to disable secure boot in the BIOS to get your system to recognize the card.
