Can I install a PCI-e x1 Wireless network card in a PCI-e x16 slot?

Just as the title says. I'm trying to get my grandmothers pc Wifi ready and we've had issues with constant disconnects with usb receivers so I figured I'd ask about the compatibility between the two PCI-e types.

Yes you can. You can always install into a larger PCI-e slot but never a smaller one.

Actually there are open ended pcie slots that will work with any pcie size in them.
