Okay, I have a dilemma here, my PC keeps freezing and I'm suspecting the motherboard. it still has the 1st bios version that was released (on windows 8) and I want to try installing a newer one(patch notes for the newer bios have increased stability).
The problem is, that I'm not sure if the driver is compatible with windows 10 since its directed to 8.1.
the motherboard is asus p8h77-m pro cg8270.
Will i still be able to boot to windows 10 if i update the bios?
:??:

Its as safe as any other bios update. It might also have features your old one doesn't.

If you can live with the freezes, its up to you. BIOS updates can brick motherboards but the software and hardware has improved a lot in the last few years as its less likely. It matches your motherboard, it should work. Plus its a few years old and if it did have issues, they would have been fixed in that time.
why not just download the win 10 bios?

its the same bios number and date, so i think its the same bios...

unless you not talking about the latest one. Not sure why you would want an older one.,..

The problem is that the motherboard isnt the p8h77-m pro, but the cg8270 version that has a different bios.
just trying to work out if the 8.1 bios would work on windows 10.

okay, i wasn't sure what those last digits were for. I now see the true picture... since the win 8.1 bios is last one they made for it you will have to use that one.

But will it be safe? i'd rather have it freeze every once in a while, than have it bricked :bounce:
