can i install an o.s in m.2 in my dell g3 3779?

i'm planning to put m.2 on my laptop and change the hdd to ssd but can i install o.s without cloning it? i want a clean install a newer installation

That laptop supports M.2 drives, but appears to only be NVMe, so keep that in mind.

Shouldn't have to, no. Merely direct the install to the M.2 drive when prompted.

Might be a good idea to remove any secondary drives while you do so, to avoid confusion.

Does what? Once you've created install media, you can boot from it & install to the M.2

Once complete, the M.2 will be bootable & should be set as priority #1
