There is one other caveat to take into consideration...
Some older motherboards with a legacy BIOS have problems recognizing the newer cards with a UEFI Bios. It's rather hit and miss. I've only run into it once, myself. And I'm not sure what generation yours goes back to.
But if you can't get the Asus GTX 750 Ti to be recognized, and you have to return it, this MSI Gaming GTX 750 Ti has been pretty successful in older boards. It has a BIOS switch to change between UEFI and legacy. Btw, this is a BTX board in a Dell case. As you can see, everything is upside down and backwards. This design only allows a single slot card to fit in the PCIe x16 slot. http://www.bcot1.com/IMG_1656b.jpg
