Can i install ram on 2nd or 3rd slot?

I have a asrock pro4 motherboard and hyper 212 evo cooler and iv jst bought corsair vengeance ram (2x4gb).
problem is that i could not install my corsair vengeance on the first ram slot..
Will it be ok if i install it on the 2nd and 3rd slot

What's wrong with the first slot? Well if you really can't put it in the first slot the second or third slot is fine!

Install the memory into either of the same colored slots. The 212 evo cooler should be adjustable. You can move the fan up some to fit larger memory.

2nd and 4th for dual channel.

My fan is coming on the way..
Each of the four slots are black in colour
So should i move the fan a little up or go for the 2nd and 4th slot..?

Either the 1st and 3rd or the 2nd and 4th slots. The fan should be adjustable, up & down. Can you remove the heat sink from a stick of memory?
